Veracruz transmission oil pressure sensor issue

I'm having an issue with my 2010 Hyundai Veracruz with a gasoline engine. The engine warning light is on, and I'm getting an error related to the transmission oil pressure sensor. I've noticed the gearbox sometimes goes into emergency mode, shifts are unclean, and there's a slight grinding noise occasionally. I checked for any obvious leaks and the oil level seems okay, although I haven't done a full drain and fill.

Summary of the thread

The 2010 Hyundai Veracruz is experiencing issues related to the transmission oil pressure sensor, indicated by the engine warning light and symptoms like the gearbox entering emergency mode, unclean shifts, and occasional grinding noises. The initial check showed no obvious leaks, but the transmission oil level was low. After topping off the oil, the shifting issues resolved, suggesting the low oil level was a primary cause. A professional check is still recommended to ensure the sensor's functionality and clear any error codes.

I encountered something similar on my 2012 Volvo XC60, although that was the engine oil pressure sensor. The symptoms sound familiar, especially the emergency mode. Before you go too far, could you double-check the transmission oil level? On my Volvo, even a slight drop in oil level caused all sorts of sensor errors. Is the level definitely within spec?

Thanks for the tip! I'll double-check the level again. When you say within spec, do you mean at the full mark, or is there a range I should be looking for? I'm also wondering if a faulty pressure switch could be the culprit. Did you consider that on your Volvo?

Yes, the level should be within the specified range, usually indicated by marks on the dipstick. Consult your manual for the exact specifications. Regarding the pressure switch, I did consider it, but the oil level was the primary suspect. If the level is confirmed to be correct, then yes, a faulty sensor is quite possible. I would suggest you visit a workshop and get it professionally checked out.

Understood, appreciate the advice! I double-checked the level, and it was indeed low. After topping it off, the shifting issues seem to have disappeared. I'm still going to take it to a shop to have the sensor checked, and I will need to have the error memory cleared. The repair ended up costing 365€. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction!
