Verso Intake Air Temperature Sensor Issue

Check engine light and rough running on my 2011 Toyota Verso gasoline. Error code says intake air temperature sensor. Anyone seen this before?

I had something similar with my Verso, though I can't recall the exact error code. Engine felt like it was suffocating. Is your fuel consumption higher than usual? For me it was a faulty temperature reading that caused all sorts of weird stuff, like the engine not knowing how much fuel to inject. Really annoying!

Thanks. Fuel consumption does seem higher. How did you resolve it? Did you replace the intake air temperature sensor, or was there another cause?

Yep, sounds exactly like what I had. I tried cleaning the sensor first, but that was a waste of time. In the end, the workshop guys just swapped it out. The new sensor fixed everything. Honestly, with the symptoms you're describing, and that error code, I'd just bite the bullet and get it replaced. It's probably the quickest and easiest solution. Plus, it's not like driving with a dodgy sensor is doing your engine any favors, right?

Thanks for the confirmation. I will replace the intake air temperature sensor. The repair cost is about 155€, which seems reasonable.
