Verso Manifold Pressure Sensor Issue

Hi, I have a 2012 Toyota Verso with a gasoline engine. Lately, the check engine light has been coming on, and the car feels like it's lost some power. Engine response is poor, and I'm burning through fuel faster than usual. I've read online that it might be a faulty manifold pressure sensor and possibly a large vacuum leakage. Has anyone experienced something similar?

Hey there! I also own a Verso, and your symptoms sound awfully familiar. Reduced power and increased fuel consumption were the first signs for me, too. It felt like driving with the parking brake on, if that makes sense? Did you notice any difference at idle or when accelerating?

Thanks for the quick reply! Yes, the idle seems a bit rough sometimes, and acceleration is definitely not as smooth as it used to be. It's like the engine is hesitating. Was it definitely the manifold pressure sensor for you, and if so, how did you confirm it?

Yep, those were my exact symptoms. I took it to a trusted mechanic, and after a diagnostic check, they confirmed it was the manifold pressure sensor. Apparently, a vacuum leak can mess with its readings. I'd recommend getting yours checked out by a professional as well; it's better to be safe than sorry. In the end, it may be cheaper than you think!

Thanks a lot for sharing your experience! It sounds like I'm on the right track. I'll book it in for a diagnostic check at my local garage. They confirmed that the sensor was faulty, probably due to a vacuum leak. Replaced the sensor and fixed the leak, and now everything is running smoothly again. Total cost was 235€. Thanks again for your help!
