Vezel Bumper Antenna Malfunction

I'm experiencing an odd electrical issue with my 2021 Honda Vezel Hybrid. The bumper antenna seems to be malfunctioning. Symptoms include an error stored in the error memory, the unlocking/locking system malfunctioning, and the car only starting with the key in the ignition, despite being a keyless entry system. Mileage is at 186477 km. I suspect a defective cable or plug connection to the antenna itself. Has anyone encountered something similar?

Summary of the thread

A 2021 Honda Vezel Hybrid experienced a malfunction with the bumper antenna, leading to issues with the keyless entry system, error codes, and the car only starting with the key in the ignition. The suspected cause was a defective cable or plug connection to the antenna. After a professional inspection, it was confirmed that the antenna cable was faulty, and replacing it resolved all the issues.

That's a strange set of symptoms! Have you checked the antenna connection point for any visible corrosion or damage? Also, does the key fob work at all when you're inside the car, or is it completely unresponsive? Perhaps try replacing the key fob battery as a really simple first step.

Thanks for the suggestions. I did a visual inspection and didn't notice any obvious corrosion at the antenna connection, but I'll check again more thoroughly. Regarding the key fob, it seems to function intermittently inside the car, but the remote locking/unlocking is completely dead. Would a weak key fob battery really cause all these issues, including the error code and the immobilizer issue?

Okay, intermittent key fob function inside the car points to a possible low battery, but I agree that the immobilizer issue and error code suggest something more significant than just that. Given all the symptoms, and especially since you suspect the antenna cable, it might be best to get it checked by a professional. An antenna problem can definitely mess with the keyless entry and starting systems. It's hard to diagnose remotely beyond suggesting basic checks. Better safe than sorry!

Appreciate the advice. I took it to a workshop, and you were right, the bumper antenna cable was indeed faulty as I suspected. They replaced it, and all the issues are now resolved. The final bill came to 95€. Thanks again for your input!
