Vezel Hybrid Engine Power Loss
Summary of the thread
A 2021 Honda Vezel hybrid with 121,800 km is experiencing engine power loss, a check engine light, and smoke. The suspected cause is a faulty crankcase ventilation valve, which can lead to reduced power and emissions issues. A similar problem in another vehicle was resolved by replacing the PCV valve, suggesting professional diagnosis and repair as the best course of action.

Thanks for the insight! An emissions leak could be the issue. How did you pinpoint the PCV valve as the culprit on your Astra?

Well, after some research, I learned that a failing PCV valve can cause all sorts of problems, from rough idling to, like you said, reduced power and even smoke. Honestly, I didn't diagnose it myself. I took it to a mechanic who ran some tests and confirmed it. Considering your symptoms, it's probably best to get it checked out by a professional to be sure.

Appreciate the advice. I'll take it to a workshop to get it diagnosed properly. It was indeed the crankcase ventilation valve. The replacement and labor cost me 360€. Thanks again!

Hey! That sounds familiar. I had similar issues with my old Opel Astra – also the check engine light and loss of power. In my case, it was a faulty PCV valve, which is basically the same thing as the crankcase ventilation valve. This valve is responsible for venting gases from the crankcase back into the intake manifold to be burned, instead of releasing them into the atmosphere. Is there any chance you have an emissions leak?
