Viano Diesel Error Warning Signal and System Failure

My 2007 Mercedes Viano diesel is throwing errors Mileage is at 197221 km A warning signal pops up while driving, or the check engine light comes on Then systems fail, mostly audio/navigation The control module shuts down temporarily, or doesn't respond Has anyone experienced this What could it be

I've encountered a similar predicament with my Viano The symptoms you describe resonate with an issue I previously addressed The cause was traced to a defective cable connection within the control unit, specifically its interface with the BUS system The BUS system functions as the central nervous system of your vehicle, facilitating communication between various electronic control units (ECUs) A compromised connection can disrupt this communication Have you inspected the cable connections to your control units

I'm not really a mechanic, so I haven't checked the cable connections Where are these control units located, and how difficult is it to get to the cable connections Could I potentially fix it myself, or am I better off taking it back to the shop

Given your admitted lack of mechanical expertise, I would strongly advise against attempting a self-repair The control units are typically located in various areas of the vehicle, often behind the dashboard or under the seats Accessing the cable connections can necessitate the removal of trim panels and other components Moreover, improper handling of electrical connectors can exacerbate the problem or even damage the control units The prudent course of action would be to return to the workshop and explicitly request that they meticulously examine the cable connections to the control units, focusing on the BUS system interface This targeted approach may yield a more expeditious and cost-effective resolution than a generic diagnostic procedure

Okay, thanks a lot for the advice I took it back to the workshop and told them to check the cable connections like you suggested Turns out you were spot on They found a defective cable connection to the control unit They repaired it, and the warning signal and system failure issues are gone The total repair cost was 155€ Really appreciate your help
