Vios Automatic Transmission Problems

Hey, I've got a 2008 Toyota Vios with a gasoline engine, and I'm experiencing some weird issues with the automatic transmission. The car has about 93,859 km on it. Lately, the shifting has been implausible, like it can't decide what gear to be in. Plus, the transmission indicator light keeps popping on. Sometimes it doesn't shift as usual, and other times it feels like it's stuck in emergency mode. Could this be related to undervoltage? Any thoughts?

Wow, that sounds familiar. I've got a Vios too. I had similar problems with the transmission a while back. It felt like the car was driving through molasses sometimes, and the shifting was all over the place. Did you check the transmission fluid level? It might sound simple, but a small leak can cause big problems. Think of it like your car trying to run a marathon with one shoe untied – it'll struggle.

Thanks, that's a good point! I haven't checked the fluid level yet, but I will. When you say similar problems, was it exactly the same symptoms – the light and the emergency mode thing? And did you manage to fix it just by topping up the fluid, or was it something more involved?

Yeah, pretty much the same symptoms. The light was on, and the emergency mode kicked in a few times. Honestly, I was hoping it was just low fluid, but no such luck. It turned out the oil was heavily worn out. Had to get a transmission flush and a full oil replacement at the workshop to get everything back to normal. Cost me around 240€ Save yourself some headaches and take it to a professional.

Thanks for the info! I appreciate you sharing your experience. I checked the fluid, and you were spot on; it was totally worn out. I took it to the shop, and they did a transmission flush and replaced the oil. Cost me 240€. Shifts like new now! Thanks again!
