Volvo S40 Audio System Failure

Hey, my 2008 Volvo S40 with a gasoline engine has a weird problem. The audio system is completely dead. No sound at all. I scanned for errors, and it shows a fault with the audio system, but doesn't say what. Fuses are fine. Any ideas?

Bummer! I had the same thing happen with my old Opel Astra, a 2012 diesel. Audio just died. Did you hear any static or crackling before it went silent? Volume control issues?

No static or crackling, and the volume was fine. It just died. Did your Opel show any specific fault codes, or was it the same?

I didn't check the codes. Sounds like the same problem, though. Given the age of our cars, maybe the display unit is failing? Mine was a bad head unit. I'd take it to a workshop for a proper diagnosis.

Good idea. I took it to a shop, and they said the display unit was defective, causing the audio failure. Cost 725€ to repair. Thanks!
