Volvo S60 power steering vibration

Hi, I've got a 2000 Volvo S60 with a gasoline engine and a power steering issue. The steering wheel vibrates, handling feels spongy, and there's an error code stored. Steering requires way more effort, like the power steering is failing. Mileage is at 185917 km. Suspect a defective cable or plug connection. Anyone else experienced this?

Hey, sounds frustrating. I had similar symptoms with my old Saab 9-3. Vibrating steering wheel and all that. Did you check the steering pump or maybe even the wheel alignment? Could also be a pressure hose issue.

Thanks for the quick reply! Steering pump and pressure hose, noted. Where exactly should I be looking for those cable connections you mentioned? Any specific areas known to be problematic?

Okay, with my Saab it turned out to be a faulty connection near the pump. Honestly, without proper tools and experience, I'd suggest getting it checked by a workshop. Could save you a lot of trouble in the long run. They can pinpoint the exact issue.

Appreciate the advice. Ended up taking it to a shop, and you were right, a cable connection was defective, near the pump as you said. Repair cost was 95€. Thanks for the help!
