Volvo V40 Diesel Engine Trouble

I'm at my wit's end! My 2000 Volvo V40 diesel is giving me grief. It's got 131348 km on the clock, and suddenly, the check engine light is mocking me. The engine's lost power, runs rough, and bucks like a bronco when I accelerate. Sometimes, it even stalls at idle. Feels like a mixture preparation error to me but I'm not entirely sure. Any ideas before I set it on fire?

Sounds frustrating! I had something similar with my V40. Reduced power, rough running... the whole shebang. Did you check the fuel injection system? It could be a faulty injector or something along those lines.

Fuel injection, eh? Interesting. I was leaning towards the mass airflow sensor or maybe a dodgy throttle body. But you reckon injectors are the likely culprit? Anything specific I should be looking for before throwing parts at it?

Well, I'm no mechanic, but my issue turned out to be a defective injector. It's worth checking out before you go replacing everything else. Honestly, though, I'd suggest getting it properly diagnosed at a workshop. Saves a lot of headaches in the long run.

I think you're right. Injectors seem the most plausible cause. Workshop it is, then. Just got the quote, and it's gonna set me back about 515€! Ouch! Hopefully, that sorts it. Thanks again for the advice!
