Volvo V40 Diesel Particulate Filter Issue

I'm experiencing difficulties with my 2013 Volvo V40 diesel. At 161841 km, I've noticed reduced engine power and excessive smoke when accelerating. Could this be a defective diesel particulate filter? It's concerning.

Hey! I had similar symptoms with my V40 (diesel too). Have you tried forcing a DPF regeneration? Sometimes a good long drive at a consistent speed can clear it out. What kind of driving do you usually do?

Thanks for the suggestion. I haven't tried a forced regeneration. Mostly, it's city driving with short trips. Could that be the main contributing factor?

Yeah, short city trips are DPF killers! Mine ended up needing a replacement. If a regeneration doesn't solve it, I'd recommend getting the exhaust system checked at a workshop. Could be the filter is beyond cleaning.

Understood. I appreciate the advice! I took it to the workshop, and they confirmed the diesel particulate filter was defective. Replacement cost me 1550€. Thanks again for your help!
