Thanks for sharing your experience. Had almost the same sound quality issues with my 2020 Atlas. The speech recognition and mic both failed around 95000km. After getting it fixed the audio system works perfectly again, including all wireless features and voice commands. Did you manage to get it repaired yet? Curious what they charged you and if any other electrical problems showed up afterward. The ambient noise calibration can sometimes cause ongoing issues if not done correctly during the repair.

Had the repair done last week and all the voice recognition features are working perfectly now. The ambient noise calibration was spot on and the hands-free microphone is crystal clear, much better than before it failed. The total bill came to 815€ for the complete infotainment system repair, including the new microphone module and recalibration work. The wireless connection has been stable since the fix, with no additional electrical problems showing up. The audio system repair was worth every cent, the Bluetooth issue is completely resolved and all voice commands are responding correctly. The specialist technician mentioned these problems are quite common in our VW models around the 100000km mark, just as you experienced. The shop ran a full diagnostic check after the repair to ensure the wireless functions were properly synced. No other electrical gremlins have appeared, and the ambient noise suppression is actually working better than when the car was new.

Finally got it sorted at a certified VW shop. The volume control and voice recognition are working like new again. Ended up paying 790€ for the microphone repair and system calibration. The technician found the same issue you mentioned, faulty mic module causing the sound quality problems. They replaced the entire overhead console unit and recalibrated all the wireless systems. The ambient noise filtering is actually better than before. Much happier with this shop compared to my last mechanic. They properly diagnosed the problem first try and had it fixed in one day. Definitely worth finding someone who knows these specific VW audio systems. All the wireless features and voice commands are working perfectly after 2 weeks.

I experienced identical audio system issues on my 2018 VW Tiguan. The wireless connection and voice command functions stopped responding completely, showing similar error codes. The root cause was a failing microphone module in the overhead console, combined with interference from ambient noise sensors. These components are part of the integrated audio input system and commonly fail around the 100000km mark. The repair required replacing the microphone assembly and recalibrating the entire hands-free system. Since these components are interconnected with the main infotainment unit, specialized diagnostic equipment was needed to properly reset and sync all systems. This is considered a moderate repair that requires technical expertise with VW infotainment systems. While not mechanically serious, it does affect safety features like hands-free calling. The issue typically worsens over time if left unrepaired. Make sure to find a shop that specializes in VW electrical systems, as general mechanics often lack the proper diagnostic tools for these specific audio system failures. The repair restored full functionality to all wireless and voice recognition features.
