Thanks for sharing your experience with the Scirocco sound system repair. Was wondering how much you ended up paying in total? My VW dealership appointment is next week and I want to be prepared. Has the sound quality been perfect since the fix or did you notice any auxiliary input issues later? Hoping my repair bill wont be as extensive since I caught it early and dont see any water damage signs.

Good to report back after getting the repair done. The audio connectivity issues were much simpler than my initial Scirocco problems. The mechanic found a defective bass speaker causing the complete radio silence, no water damage or amplifier problems like I experienced. The total repair cost was 280€, which included diagnosis, speaker replacement and testing the entire sound system. Much lower than my previous repair bill since it only required replacing one component. Sound quality has been perfect since the fix. No more audio issues with any input source, radio, USB audio and bluetooth all work flawlessly. The sound distortion I initially feared would be permanent turned out to be just that faulty speaker. My earlier repair experience was clearly more complex, but catching these audio system problems early definitely helps limit the damage and costs. Glad you got it sorted with a straightforward speaker replacement rather than dealing with extensive electrical repairs.

Thanks everyone for the helpful feedback. Just got back from the mechanic and wanted to share how it went. The sound system diagnosis revealed a blown fuse and damaged main control module, different from the speaker issues others mentioned. The repair involved replacing the control module and rewiring some connections. Total cost came to 420€ including parts and labor. Much better than I expected after hearing about potential amplifier replacements. The mechanic completed everything in about 3 hours. No more radio silence, the Bluetooth issue resolved completely and all audio functions are back to normal. Sound quality is actually better than before. For anyone else facing similar problems, definitely worth getting it checked early. The technician mentioned waiting could have led to more extensive electrical damage requiring a full sound system replacement. Relieved it turned out to be a relatively simple fix compared to some of the water damage horror stories. The car is running great and the stereo sounds perfect across all inputs.

Recently dealt with a similar audio issue in my 2012 VW Scirocco. The complete radio silence happened just like yours, all audio sources stopped working, including USB audio and volume control functions. The problem traced back to the amplifier module under the driver seat. Water had leaked through and corroded the connections, causing total sound system failure. This required removing the seat, replacing the amp unit, and testing all speaker connections. In my case, some car speakers also needed replacement due to the electrical surge that occurred when the amp failed. The sound distortion was noticeable during testing after the initial amp replacement. This turned out to be a significant repair involving: Amplifier unit replacement, Wiring harness inspection, Speaker system testing, Moisture damage remediation, Full audio system calibration The repair took two full days at the shop. While not affecting vehicle operation, its a complex fix requiring specialized diagnostic equipment to properly test the audio system components. These issues are relatively common in VW models from that generation when water infiltration occurs. Best to have it checked soon to prevent additional damage to the speaker system.
