VW Golf 2015: Engine warning light, loss of power and whistling noises

Hey guys, I'm at a bit of a loss with my 2015 VW Golf (gasoline engine). Recently I've noticed some problems: black smoke when accelerating, engine warning light is on, loss of power, loud hissing when accelerating. My guess is the position sensor of the boost pressure control, but I'm not a professional. Have any of you had similar experiences and can give me any helpful tips on how the garage solved the problem? I am looking forward to your advice and experiences. Thanks in advance!

Summary of the thread

A 2015 VW Golf owner is experiencing engine issues, including black smoke during acceleration, an engine warning light, loss of power, and a loud hissing noise. The owner suspects the position sensor of the boost pressure control might be the cause. Another person with a similar issue in a different VW model suggests that the problem could be related to mechanical damage to the turbocharger, which was resolved through repair. The conversation suggests checking the turbocharger and considering driving habits that might contribute to wear.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Hello, I had a similar problem with my 2013 VW Jetta (also a gasoline engine). My level of knowledge about cars is rather low to moderate, but maybe my experience report will help you anyway. The garage found mechanical damage to my turbocharger, which is the same symptoms you describe. The repair cost me 1100 euros, but afterwards my car ran great again. How many kilometers have you driven so far and what is your driving style like? That might help to get a better idea of your problem.

Sers, thanks for your reply. I've already driven my Golf quite a bit on the highway, I've got 78142 km on it, the last service was last year. Of course I hope that it will be cheaper for me if it really is the turbocharger...

Hey, no problem! Of course, your use and driving style could well have caused something to go wrong with your turbocharger. Depending on the mileage and driving style, this can happen. If you give full throttle a lot, especially when the engine is cold, this can cause the turbocharger to wear out more quickly. In my Jetta, as I said, it was mechanical damage to the turbocharger, but since I had it repaired, it runs like new again. Just to be on the safe side, next time I would let the engine cool down a bit after driving before you park the car. It also helps to protect the turbo. Hope that helps you a bit! Keep your fingers crossed that it won't be too expensive!
