VW Golf: Jerking on acceleration and loss of engine power

Hello all, I am having a problem with my VW Golf. During acceleration I experience jerking and there seems to be a loss of engine power. Does anyone have an idea what the possible cause could be or suggestions for possible solutions? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi CarFreak, the symptoms you're describing could be due to a number of issues. A common cause is a dirty or faulty mass air flow sensor which can affect the air/fuel mixture going into the engine. You could try cleaning the sensor with a mass air flow sensor cleaner. If the problem persists, it might be worth having a mechanic inspect it. Please let us know how you get on.
