Thanks for sharing your experience with the parking assist repair. I had nearly the same problem with my 2013 Jetta last winter. The control module kept showing errors and none of the radar sensors worked properly. My mechanic also found corroded wiring as the main culprit, plus two faulty blind spot sensors that needed replacement. Mind sharing what the total repair cost was in your case? Also curious if you experienced any other electrical issues since getting it fixed. My parking assist has worked flawlessly after the repair, but recently noticed some intermittent warnings from the obstacle detection system that I hope arent related.

Happy to report the parking assist system has worked perfectly since getting it fixed last month. The repair was much simpler and cheaper than expected, just 95€ to fix a faulty cable connection at the control module. The proximity sensors and rearview camera all came back online immediately after the repair. Unlike your situation with the blind spot sensors, my radar sensors were all functioning correctly once the wiring issue was resolved. No additional electrical problems or warning messages have appeared since then. The intermittent obstacle detection warnings you mentioned could suggest a separate issue that might need checking, as these systems often work independently. The repair cost was significantly less than initially anticipated, especially compared to replacing multiple sensors or the entire wiring harness. My parking assist now functions as good as new, with all sensors detecting obstacles accurately.

Just got back from the mechanic regarding those intermittent warnings. Turns out the ultrasonic sensors needed a thorough cleaning and recalibration. The total bill came to 180€, which included a full diagnostic scan of the parking assist system. The tech showed me how dirt and road grime had built up around the sensors, affecting their performance. They cleaned all radar sensors and performed a complete system reset. The parking assist and blind spot sensors are now working perfectly again. Definitely learned my lesson about regular maintenance of these electronic systems. Much cheaper than waiting for complete failure like last time. The obstacle detection is now consistently accurate and the control module shows no more error messages. Good to know others have dealt with similar issues and found solutions. Thanks for sharing your experience, helped me better understand what to look for.

As a VW Passat GTE Hybrid (2016) owner, I encountered nearly identical parking assist system failures. The main issue was faulty wiring connections between the control module and the obstacle detection sensors. The system would completely shut down, similar to your symptoms. The root cause turned out to be corroded wiring harness connectors that affected both the parking sensors and rearview camera functionality. This is a known weak point in these systems, especially after extended use. The repair involved replacing the entire wiring harness assembly and recalibrating the parking assist system. The job is quite complex as it requires removing multiple body panels to access the affected areas. My repair required specialized diagnostic equipment to properly reset and calibrate the control module after the wiring replacement. This is considered a significant repair since it affects multiple safety systems. If left unaddressed, it can lead to complete failure of other related functions like blind spot monitoring. A thorough diagnostic scan at a shop with VW-specific tools should identify whether your issue is also wiring-related or if there might be damage to the sensors themselves.
