VW Nivus Engine Misfire Linked to Faulty Coil Packs

Need advice with engine running issues on 2021 VW Nivus, likely ignition coil problem Having trouble with my 2021 VW Nivus gasoline engine. The engine runs rough, stalls at idle, and jerks during acceleration. Check engine light is also on. Vehicle diagnostics point toward a potential ignition coil issue, but Id like to confirm before replacing parts. Looking for feedback from others who dealt with similar symptoms. What was the actual cause in your case? Were coil packs the culprit? Any specific advice on troubleshooting the ignition system to pinpoint the exact problem? Also interested in repair costs and time needed for the fix. Anyone who had this fixed at a shop, what was your experience? Did you need to replace single coils or the complete set?

I had a similar issue with my 2019 VW T-Cross with the gasoline engine. Based on my experience with cars and basic maintenance knowledge, the symptoms you describe match exactly what I encountered, engine hesitation, rough running, and engine stalling. Initially thought it was fuel related, but the workshop diagnosed a faulty connection in the wiring harness to one of the ignition coils. The repair involved fixing the damaged wire and connector, which cost 95€ including diagnostic time. The whole repair took about 2 hours. The engine runs perfectly smooth now, but it took some trial and error to pinpoint the exact issue. My mechanic mentioned that coil failure is common, but its important to check the wiring and connections first before replacing parts. To help diagnose your specific case, could you share: Current mileage on your Nivus, When exactly does the engine run rough (cold start, warm engine, or both), Any recent maintenance or repairs performed, Does the rough running happen more at specific RPM ranges, Which engine code or size does your Nivus have This information would help determine if your issue matches what I experienced or if its potentially something different in the ignition system.

Last service was at 120000km, about 3 months ago. The engine misfire only occurs on cold starts and is most noticeable at low RPM. The rough running seems worse in wet weather. My local diagnostics showed error code P0301, indicating cylinder 1 misfire. After checking spark plugs and wiring connections, I agree its likely a coil failure. Makes sense given the symptoms you described match mine exactly, especially the engine hesitation and stalling. Going to schedule an appointment to have the ignition coils properly tested. Will update once I know more.

Thanks for the additional details about your Nivus. Those symptoms with error code P0301 strongly point to an ignition coil issue, just like what I experienced with my T-Cross. The cold start misfires and sensitivity to wet weather are classic signs. In my case, after fixing the wiring, we ended up replacing the coil on cylinder 1 as a precaution since mine was also throwing the P0301 code. The complete repair including parts and labor came to 180€. The misfire symptoms disappeared completely after the repair. A professional vehicle diagnostics test is definitely the right next step. Based on the mileage you mentioned, its worth having them check all four coils while testing. My mechanic explained that when one coil starts failing, the others often follow since they age at similar rates. The fact that your engine stalling and rough running gets worse in wet conditions particularly matches my experience, moisture was getting into the degraded coil insulation. Let us know what the testing reveals. This type of ignition system issue is usually straightforward to fix once properly diagnosed.

Thanks for providing those additional details about your Nivus symptoms. The error code P0301 combined with the cold start misfires definitely points toward the ignition coils being the culprit, just like what happened with your T-Cross. Glad I got this feedback before spending money on unnecessary parts. The fact that the misfire gets worse in wet weather and mostly affects cylinder 1 during cold starts really helps confirm the diagnosis. My vehicle history matches yours too, recent service at 120000km and similar error codes showing up. I will go ahead and schedule that appointment to have the coils tested. Your repair cost of 180€ for diagnostics and replacement seems reasonable. Makes sense to check all the coils while they are doing the work, given the mileage. Will definitely post an update once I get the vehicle diagnostics results and repair completed. Thanks for sharing your experience, really helped narrow down the ignition system issue.
