VW T-Cross Engine Misfire Linked to Rail Sensor

Thanks for sharing your experience. I actually faced this exact same issue with my T-Cross last winter. The check engine light started flashing and the engine was really struggling, especially at idle. The fuel pressure sensor readings were all over the place, causing the diesel engine to run terribly. Just wondering, do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the complete repair? In my case the sensor replacement and system cleaning came to around 450€, but prices might have changed since then. Has everything been running smoothly since the fix? No other fuel system problems cropped up? Mine has been perfect since the repair but always good to know what to watch out for.

After getting the pressure sensor replaced and fuel system cleaned, mine ran perfectly with no issues. The total cost was 240€ for the complete job, including the new sensor and labor. Seems prices have gone up since my repair, given your 450€ bill. The rail pressure sensor signal faulty code was completely resolved after the fix. The engine runs like new now, stable idle, proper fuel pressure, and full power restored. No fuel system problems or check engine warnings in the 8 months since the repair. Really glad I addressed it quickly, as faulty pressure sensors can lead to serious engine damage if ignored. The unstable fuel pressure and incorrect injection timing could have caused much bigger issues down the line. Critical to fix these fuel system faults promptly, since engine stalling and power loss only get worse over time. Regular maintenance helps prevent sensor failures, but sometimes they just need replacement due to normal wear.

I took my T-Cross to the shop last week after getting great advice here. The mechanic confirmed it was indeed the rail pressure sensor causing the engine performance issues. The diagnostic matched exactly what others described, unstable idle, low power, and erratic sensor readings. The repair process went smoothly. They flushed the fuel system, replaced the faulty pressure sensor, and did a thorough cleaning of the fuel rail. Total cost came to 390€, which included parts and labor. Not cheap, but worth it considering the risk of further engine damage. After the fix, the check engine light disappeared immediately. The engine now idles perfectly and power delivery is back to normal. No more engine stalling or rough running issues. Really glad I got it sorted quickly rather than driving around with failing sensors. The mechanic suggested checking the fuel filter during the next service to prevent similar issues. Will definitely stay on top of maintenance to avoid sensor problems in the future. Overall, very happy with how it turned out.

Had the same issue on a 2017 Polo TSI. The engine stalling and power loss started suddenly during highway driving. Diagnostic showed fuel rail pressure sensor malfunction, causing incorrect readings to the ECU. This led to fuel injection problems and inconsistent fuel pressure. The repair required replacing both the pressure sensor and cleaning the fuel rail system. It was a serious issue since faulty readings can lead to engine damage if left unchecked. The sensor controls the exact amount of fuel delivered to the injectors, so when it fails, the engine runs extremely poorly. The fix took about 4 hours at the shop. They had to drain the fuel system, remove the fuel rail, clean everything thoroughly, and install the new sensor. After the repair, the engine ran smoothly again with proper idle and normal power delivery. Would strongly recommend getting it fixed soon, as continuing to drive with these symptoms risks damaging other fuel system components or potentially leaving you stranded if the engine stalls completely.
