VW T-Cross Stalling: Emission System Purge Valve Issue

Thanks for sharing your experience. My T-Cross has 12822km and just had its annual service last month. The check engine light appeared 3 days ago, and the stalling occurs more frequently when the fuel tank is near full. No previous fuel system maintenance was needed before this issue started. The purge valve symptoms you described match mine exactly. Good to know the clogged hoses can cause this, I was focusing too much on the valve itself and hadn't considered checking the connected components in the emission system. Will have the EVAP system thoroughly inspected based on your experience.

The clogged hoses in your emission system definitely sound similar to what I dealt with on my T-Roc. Since your stalling happens more with a full fuel tank, this further confirms it could be vapor flow issues in the EVAP system. One thing I learned from my repair, the purge valve itself was actually fine, but the restricted flow in the connected hoses made it appear like a valve malfunction. The workshop showed me how carbon deposits had built up in the vapor lines between the fuel tank and purge valve. Since your car is newer with lower mileage, check if this repair would be covered under warranty. My clogged hoses technically resulted from normal use, and VW covered it as a warranty repair. The service department explained that some fuel formulations can cause faster deposit buildup in the EVAP system components. Make sure they test the complete vapor pathway during diagnosis, not just the purge valve operation. The pressure readings can appear normal even with partially clogged lines.

Thanks for the detailed follow-up about the vapor flow issues. This really helps narrow down where to look in the tank ventilation system. The similarities in our cases are quite striking, my emission system problems also showed up suddenly despite regular maintenance. With such low mileage on my car and the stalling being worse with a full fuel tank, checking for clogged vapor lines makes perfect sense. I will contact the dealer about warranty coverage first thing tomorrow. The car is well within the warranty period, so hopefully they will handle the repair like in your case. Makes sense to have them inspect the complete vapor pathway between the fuel tank and purge valve, rather than just replacing parts. When I get the diagnosis results, I will update here about whether clogged hoses were indeed causing the check engine light and stalling issues. This could help others who encounter similar EVAP system problems with these models.

Had a similar situation with my 2020 VW T-Roc. Being somewhat experienced with car repairs, I initially thought it was just a loose gas cap causing EVAP system issues, but it turned out to be more complex. The symptoms matched exactly what you described, engine light and stalling at idle. After checking the basic stuff like the gas cap seal, I took it to a workshop where they ran a comprehensive diagnostic on the EVAP system. They found several clogged hoses connected to the purge valve, which were restricting proper vapor flow. The total repair came to 175€, including diagnostics and cleaning. The stalling completely stopped after the fix, and the engine light hasn't returned since. Before suggesting more specific solutions, could you share: Current mileage on your T-Cross, How long has the check engine light been on, Any recent fuel system maintenance, Does the stalling happen more frequently when the fuel tank is full or nearly empty This info would help determine if your issue is similar to what I experienced with the clogged EVAP system components.
