Thanks for checking my thread. My situation matches yours exactly, though my mileage is at 78667km with the same symptoms starting right after my latest service. After seeing your detailed repair info, I will head to the workshop next week to get the microphone repair done. I can confirm I already tried the Bluetooth issue troubleshooting you mentioned: Tested with multiple phones, Reset the speech recognition system several times, Checked all audio system settings, Verified the wireless connection works for music The problem appeared suddenly and persists regardless of which phone connects. No work was done on the overhead area during service. Really appreciate the repair cost estimate and breakdown of what to expect at the shop.

Thanks for those extra details. Yes, given the identical symptoms and the timing after your service, I am even more convinced now its the same microphone module failure I experienced. The sudden onset and the fact it affects all phones points strongly to hardware failure rather than a software glitch in the voice recognition system. One thing I noticed after my repair that might be useful, have them verify the audio input calibration during installation. My first repair attempt had lingering issues with the ambient noise cancellation until they properly recalibrated the new microphone sensitivity. The total repair time for mine was about 4 hours, including all the system checks. Since your mileage is higher than mine was, definitely have them check the full wiring harness in the overhead console while they are in there. Better to catch any early wear now rather than face another audio system failure later. Based on your case details, I predict the repair cost will be in the same range as mine, likely between 800-900€ including parts and labor. Keep us posted on what they find during the actual repair.

Thanks for your help, really useful info. Just got back from the workshop and thought I would close this thread with the outcome. You were spot on, it was indeed the microphone module. The final repair included: New microphone unit installation, Complete wiring harness replacement, Full sound quality calibration, Testing of all voice recognition features Total cost came to 845€, right in the range you predicted. The speech recognition works perfectly now and the ambient noise cancellation is actually better than before. They spent extra time on the audio input calibration as you suggested, which really paid off. For anyone searching this issue later: The key symptoms were: Working Bluetooth connection, No voice recognition function, Sound output fine but no audio input, Volume control normal for other features Repair time was 4.5 hours total. Really glad to have the hands-free system working properly again. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction with the diagnosis.

I had a similar issue with my 2021 T-Cross, having some experience with VW infotainment systems, this sounds very familiar. The wireless connection symptoms match exactly what I experienced. The voice recognition system completely failed, making the hands-free feature useless despite the audio system working fine for other functions. After several attempts to reset the system myself, I took it to a workshop where they diagnosed a defective microphone module and damaged wiring in the overhead console. The repair involved: Complete replacement of the microphone unit, New wiring harness installation, System recalibration, Testing of ambient noise cancellation, Full reset of the audio input settings Total repair cost was 815€, but it solved the issue completely. No problems since then with calls or voice commands. To better assist you, could you share: Have you tried resetting the infotainment system? Does the issue persist with different phones? When did the problem first appear, suddenly or gradually? Any recent work done on the overhead console or sunroof? Knowing these details would help determine if your issue matches what I experienced or if it might be something different.
