VW Taigo Fuel Pump Failure Symptoms & Repair Help

Need advice for likely fuel pump issue, car keeps stalling and wont start. My nearly new VW Taigo (2023, gas engine, 142924km) is giving me serious headaches. The engine sometimes wont start, stalls at idle and runs really rough when it does work. Fuel consumption has gone through the roof lately. Check engine light is on and mechanic confirmed error codes stored. Last mechanic visit was a disaster so Im hesitant to go back. Pretty sure its the fuel pump failing but would like to hear if anyone has dealt with similar fuel system problems on modern VWs. Any tips on reliable shops that know their way around fuel pump repairs would be great. Getting desperate here since I need the car daily.

Had a similar fuel system issue with my VW T-Cross 2021. The symptoms match exactly what you describe, rough running, high fuel consumption, and stalling. Initially thought it was the fuel pump, but auto repair diagnostics revealed it was actually a faulty fuel injector connection and sensor wiring. The car performance was seriously compromised, making it unsafe for daily driving. The mechanic found corroded wiring connectors at the fuel injector assembly, which caused intermittent electrical signals. This made the engine computer receive incorrect data about fuel delivery. For this type of issue, having a proper diagnostic scan is crucial, the fuel pump might not be the root cause. Modern VWs have complex fuel delivery systems where multiple components can cause similar symptoms. The car mechanics will need specialized diagnostic equipment to properly identify if its the fuel pump, injectors, or electrical connections. Before replacing the entire fuel pump, have them check: Fuel pressure readings, Injector pulse signals, Wiring harness connections, Fuel pump relay function, Pump voltage supply The repair was classified as a critical safety issue requiring immediate attention. Not a quick fix, but certainly repairable with the right diagnostic approach.

Thanks for sharing your T-Cross experience. The faulty fuel injector connection seems to match my fuel delivery issues. After weeks of engine stalling and troubleshooting problems, getting proper automotive diagnosis made all the difference. Would you mind sharing what the total repair cost was for fixing those corroded connectors? Also curious if you have experienced any similar fuel system problems since the repair was completed.

You will be glad to hear that after getting the proper automotive diagnosis, my T-Cross has been running perfectly. The repair was much simpler and cheaper than expected, just 95€ to fix a defective cable connection at the fuel pump assembly. No more engine stalling or fuel delivery issues since then. The repair shop identified the exact problem using detailed diagnostic testing, ruling out more serious fuel injector problems. The car performance returned to normal immediately after they fixed the faulty connection. Looking back, the symptoms were scary, but the fix was straightforward once properly diagnosed. For the past 6 months, the car has been running smoothly with normal fuel consumption. No check engine lights or starting problems. Really shows how important proper diagnosis is, what seemed like a failing fuel pump was just a basic electrical connection issue.

Finally got my car fixed! After reading about your experience, I took it to a different auto repair shop that specializes in VW fuel system diagnostics. Turns out you were spot on, it wasnt the fuel pump at all. They found corroded wiring near the fuel injector assembly, just like in your case. The automotive diagnosis was thorough and took about 2 hours. Total repair cost came to 120€, including the diagnostic fee. They showed me the damaged wiring and explained how it was causing the engine stalling and rough running. Car has been running perfectly for the past week. Fuel consumption is back to normal and no more starting issues. Such a relief to have it properly fixed. Sure beats the previous mechanic who just wanted to replace the entire fuel pump without proper testing. Really grateful for your advice, saved me from an unnecessary expensive repair and helped me find the real problem. Now I know why proper diagnostic testing is so important for modern car mechanics.
