VW Taigo Parking Assist System Complete Failure

My 2021 VW Taigo parking assist system has completely stopped working and shows an error message. The ultrasonic sensors seem unresponsive when parking, and the obstacle detection no longer alerts me to nearby objects. Has anyone encountered similar issues with their parking sensors? I suspect a parking aid fault or possibly faulty wiring could be the cause. Looking for tips on what the repair might involve and what costs to expect at the workshop. Would be great to hear about successful fixes from others who have dealt with this problem.

I had a nearly identical issue with my 2019 VW T-Cross, which shares many components with the Taigo. As someone with moderate experience working on VWs, I can share my resolution. The proximity sensors and parking assist system completely failed, leaving me without obstacle detection capabilities. After initial diagnostics, the workshop found a damaged cable connection to the parking sensors control module. The issue wasnt with the sensors themselves but rather with the wiring harness connection. The repair involved: Full diagnostic scan, Removing the rear bumper to access connections, Replacing faulty wiring connector, Recalibrating the parking system Total cost was 95€ for parts and labor. The system has worked flawlessly since the repair, restoring all parking aid functions including the rearview camera integration. Could you share: Have you noticed any physical damage to the rear bumper? Does the system fail immediately at startup or intermittently? Are you getting any specific error codes? Did this start after any recent work on the vehicle? This information would help determine if your issue matches what I experienced with my car.

Last service was at 145000km and error started right after that. The system fails immediately when starting the car. I checked the rear bumper carefully and found no visible damage. My OBD reader shows error code P0467 but Im not sure if this is related to the parking assist control module issue. No recent work was done besides the regular maintenance service. Could the sensor calibration have been disrupted during the service work? The blind spot sensors are still working normally, its just the parking sensors that are completely dead.

Based on my similar experience with the VW T-Cross, the timing of your issue starting right after service is quite telling. When my parking sensor system failed, it also showed immediate errors at startup while other systems like blind spot sensors remained functional. The P0467 code typically relates to different systems, so your parking assist problem is likely logged in a separate control module. In my case, the service center had accidentally disturbed the wiring harness connections while performing routine maintenance work. The parking sensors control module needs precise calibration, and even slight connector disturbance can trigger system failures. Suggest having the workshop: Check all parking sensor connections that might have been disturbed during service, Perform a specific diagnostic scan of the parking assist control module, Verify proper sensor calibration settings, Test individual parking sensors for response Since no physical damage is present and the timing aligns with the service visit, its likely a simpler fix than what I experienced with my damaged wiring. The workshop should cover any repairs under their service warranty if the issue was indeed caused during maintenance. Do you recall if they performed any work near the rear bumper or if they needed to remove any trim pieces during the service?

I noticed they had to remove some trim pieces to access the fuel filter during the service. You could be right about the connection issues. A quick look under the rear bumper shows some of the proximity sensors seem loose, so maybe the connections got disturbed during reassembly. The rearview camera still works perfectly which makes me think its specifically the parking assist system thats affected. Will take it back to the workshop and have them check the wiring connections first. Since it happened right after their service work, hopefully they will cover the diagnostic and repair costs under warranty. The blind spot sensors and other safety systems working normally does suggest its isolated to the parking aid components. Thanks for sharing your experience, helps narrow down where to look. Will update once I get it checked out and know exactly what caused the faulty wiring or calibration issue.
