VW Taos Brake Pedal Vibration & Pulsing Issues Fixed

Having issues with my 2022 VW Taos. When pressing the brake pedal, I feel unusual vibrations and feedback. The pedal sometimes feels softer than normal and occasionally makes a pulsing sensation. I suspect worn disc brakes or brake rotors might be the cause, but not entirely sure. Has anyone experienced similar symptoms with their Taos? Looking to hear about repair solutions and workshop experiences before taking it in. Squeaky brakes are not present, but the metal-on-metal sensation is concerning. The brake fluid was checked recently and is at proper levels. Any insights on what exactly needs replacing and approximate repair costs would be really helpful.

Having a similar issue on my 2020 VW Tiguan, I feel qualified to share my experience with hydraulic brakes problems. The symptoms you describe match what I encountered, especially that pulsing sensation in the brake pedal. Initially thought it was just worn brake shoes, but the workshop diagnosed an undervoltage issue affecting the brake system. The low voltage was causing irregular brake pressure distribution. The fix involved checking the entire electrical system and replacing a faulty voltage regulator, costing 240€ total. Before jumping to conclusions about your Taos, could you share: Current mileage, When you last had a full brake system inspection, Whether the check engine light is on, If you notice any electrical issues like dim headlights The metal-on-metal sensation you mention could be related to the electrical system rather than mechanical brake components. Worth having both checked since proper brake function relies heavily on correct electrical voltage. My suggestion would be to have a complete diagnostic scan done. While brake fluid levels being good is positive, the entire brake system should be inspected, including electrical connections and brake pressure sensors.

My Taos has 95110km and the last full service was done 3 months ago. The check engine light is not on, and I have not noticed any electrical issues with headlights or other systems. The brake calipers were actually inspected during that service and marked as good condition. However, the brake rotors were not specifically checked at that time. Given the vibration and feedback through the brake pedal, I am more convinced it could be warped brake rotors causing these symptoms rather than an electrical issue. The disc brakes themselves might also need inspection since the pulsing sensation usually indicates uneven wear patterns. Thanks for sharing your experience with the electrical system, I will have that checked as well just to rule it out completely.

Thanks for those details about your Taos. The symptoms you describe, especially the pulsing through the brake pedal, actually do point more toward mechanical issues than electrical problems like I experienced in my Tiguan. With 95110km, warped brake rotors are a real possibility. The pulsing feedback through the brake pedal is a classic sign of uneven rotor wear in the disc brake system. When brake rotors warp, they create high and low spots that you can feel as vibration when braking. In my case, after ruling out the electrical issues, I also had to replace both front rotors and brake pads. The total repair came to about 380€, including labor. The hydraulic brake system worked perfectly after that. A quick test you can do: If the vibration increases with brake pedal pressure and is most noticeable during highway speed braking, it further confirms warped rotors as the likely cause. Given your recent service found good caliper condition, I would focus on getting those rotors and brake pads inspected. Uneven wear on the brake system components can develop surprisingly quickly, even in three months of regular driving.

Thanks for the additional info and guidance regarding the possible electrical issues. Based on all the feedback, I will schedule a full inspection focusing primarily on the brake rotors and disc brakes. The symptoms match exactly what you described about warped rotors, the vibration definitely gets worse when braking at higher speeds. Interesting that your repair costs came to 380€, which helps me budget for the potential work needed. I did the quick test you suggested during my drive today. When applying more pressure to the brake pedal above 80kph, the pulsing sensation becomes much more noticeable, supporting the warped rotor theory. The hydraulic brake system seems to be working normally otherwise, with consistent fluid levels and no warning lights. Will book an appointment to have the brake system thoroughly checked, particularly the rotors and pads. While they inspect those components, I will also request verification of the electrical system just to be completely certain. Better to address all potential causes now rather than have recurring issues. Thanks again for helping narrow down the likely culprit.
