Thanks for sharing that insight about the wiring harness and blower motor power supply fix. My Tiguan had very similar symptoms last winter, completely dead HVAC system with no response from the control panel. Your experience matches what I ultimately discovered with mine. Can you remember roughly what the repair cost came out to in your case? Also curious if youve had any recurring electronic faults since getting it fixed? Still a bit nervous about potential issues popping up again in my control panel.

Got my Passat back from the mechanic last week after they found and fixed the issue. The faulty electrical connectors were causing the HVAC system control panel failure. Total repair came to 95€, mainly labor costs to trace and fix the compromised cable connection. Great news is the climate control panel has been working flawlessly since the repair. No recurring electronic faults or issues with the blower motor operation. The power supply to all HVAC components is now stable. Its been a relief to have proper climate control again, especially with changing weather. If the symptoms match what you described with your Tiguan, its likely a similar connection issue rather than a major system failure. The key was having a technician properly diagnose the exact point of failure in the electrical system, rather than just assuming entire components needed replacement.

I took it back to my trusted mechanic last week who thoroughly checked the electrical system. They found the temperature sensor had failed and there was damage to the surrounding wiring harness, likely from moisture exposure. The electronic faults were exactly as you described, compromised connections causing the control panel to shut down. The total repair came to 320€ including parts and labor. They replaced the damaged section of wiring harness, installed new electrical connectors, and fitted a replacement temperature sensor. Much more reasonable than the 1200€ quoted by the dealer for a complete HVAC control unit replacement. Been about a week now and the climate control is working perfectly again. The blower motor responds instantly and all temperature settings work as they should. Really glad I got a second opinion and proper diagnosis rather than throwing parts at the problem.

Had the same problem on a 2013 VW Passat TDI. The control panel failure typically points to two common issues: either a faulty wiring harness connection or a defective blower motor power supply. In my case, the mechanic found corroded pins in the main connector block feeding the climate control unit. Water had leaked through the cabin air filter housing and damaged the wiring harness connections over time. The blower motor also showed intermittent function due to the compromised power supply. The fix required replacing the affected wiring harness section and installing a new connector block. This was actually a serious electrical issue that could have led to more extensive electronic faults if left unaddressed. The repair prevents potential damage to other connected systems in the control panel network. Worth having a qualified technician trace the exact connection point where the signal drops. They should test both the power supply circuit and inspect the wiring harness thoroughly for any signs of water ingress or corrosion.
