Thanks for sharing your experience with the Golf. Your wiring issue sounds very similar to what I am seeing on my Tiguan. Just took it to a local shop and they also found water damage in the electrical connections. The lamp replacement and rewiring took about 3 hours. Did you have any recurring turn signal problems after your repair was done? Also curious what the total cost was for your fix since I want to make sure I wasnt overcharged. My electrical fault seems resolved but would like to prevent this from happening again.

Following the repair my turn signal system has worked flawlessly. The electrical fault was completely resolved after fixing the defective cable connection and cleaning the corroded terminals. Total cost was 95€ for parts and labor, which sounds in line with standard rates for automotive lighting repairs of this type. To prevent future issues, the mechanic applied additional sealant around the indicator light housing and checked all other lamp connections for early signs of water intrusion. Regular inspection of the turn signal assemblies and surrounding seals is worthwhile, especially before wet seasons. The diagnostic equipment confirmed all electrical components are now functioning correctly, with no error codes present. Based on your description, the repair approach for your Tiguan seems appropriate and similar to what resolved my issue.

Thank you everyone for the helpful replies. I went ahead and had my Tiguan checked at a trusted independent shop. They found water damage just like in your Golf case. My signal lamp wiring was completely corroded near the front connector. The repair included new wiring, weatherproofing, and testing all turn indicator connections. Total came to 120€ which seems reasonable given the 3 hours of work. They also applied extra sealant around all light housings to prevent future water issues. Been a week now and no more dashboard errors or electrical faults. The mechanic showed me the damaged parts and explained everything clearly. Much better experience than my last shop visit. Glad I got it fixed before winter, apparently these issues often get worse with more moisture exposure.

Had a similar issue with a 2013 Golf TSI last month. The indicator light problem started with intermittent flashing and error messages on the dashboard. First checked the obvious, automotive lighting connections and bulbs. The real problem turned out to be corroded wiring connectors at the flasher relay module. Water had seeped through a damaged grommet near the fuse box, causing connection issues. The repair involved: Cleaning connector terminals, Replacing damaged wiring section, Installing new weatherproofing, Replacing the flasher relay unit, Clearing error codes This was a serious electrical issue that could have led to complete indicator failure or caused problems with other systems. The broken lens you mentioned likely isnt the main cause, but water intrusion through a damaged lens can definitely contribute to electrical issues. Best to have it properly diagnosed. These electrical gremlins tend to get worse if left unchecked. Worth checking all bulb connections and the relay first, but professional diagnostic equipment will pinpoint the exact cause.
