Thanks for sharing your experience. I had exactly the same tire sensor and ABS issues with my Touareg last winter. The shaking steering wheel and heavy steering were really concerning. Got it all fixed at a specialized workshop. Do you remember roughly how much you paid for the complete repair? Also wondering if youve had any issues with the tire monitoring system since getting it fixed?

After getting the repair done at the workshop, the tire monitoring system has worked flawlessly. No more false tire pressure warnings or any related issues. The faulty valve replacement cost me 280€, which included the new sensor and recalibration. Looking back, it was worth every cent since the car now handles perfectly and the tire pressure monitoring works reliably. The tire sensor repair resolved all those worrying symptoms, the steering wheel shake, heavy steering, and those annoying ABS warnings. Regular tire pressure checks with a standard tire gauge now match exactly what the monitoring system displays, confirming everything is working as intended. A properly functioning tire monitoring system really adds peace of mind, especially since it can alert you to genuine pressure issues before they become dangerous. Since the fix, the system has correctly alerted me to one actual low tire pressure situation, which turned out to be a small nail in the tire.

I finally got my Touareg fixed last week. Took it to a specialized VW workshop, much better experience than my previous mechanic. The total cost came to 310€, slightly more than expected but worth it for peace of mind. The mechanic found a failing wheel speed sensor and a faulty tire valve, just like in your case. Once replaced, the tire monitoring system works perfectly now. No more false pressure loss warnings or ABS lights. The steering feels normal again, and that scary wheel shake is completely gone. Had a small scare yesterday when the tire pressure warning came on, but turns out it was actually detecting a real punctured tire this time. At least now I know the system is working as it should. Much more confident in the car's safety systems after getting everything properly sorted. If anyone else faces similar symptoms, definitely worth checking both the tire sensors and wheel speed sensors. These issues seem pretty common in our model year.

Had similar issues with my VW Tiguan 2010 gasoline model. The tire monitoring system showed warnings despite proper inflation, and the symptoms you describe match exactly what happened, heavy steering, ABS light, and vibrations during turns. The root cause turned out to be a defective tire valve sensor combined with a failing wheel speed sensor. The tire pressure appeared normal with a tire gauge, but the faulty valve was causing intermittent air leak problems that the system detected. This triggered both the tire pressure and ABS warnings, as the systems are interconnected. This is a serious safety concern that needs immediate attention. The wheel speed sensor affects both ABS function and stability control. When the tire monitoring system malfunctions, it can mask real pressure problems, potentially leading to unsafe driving conditions. The fix required: Replacing the defective tire valve sensor, Installing a new wheel speed sensor, Recalibrating the ABS system, Testing the tire monitoring system Until repaired, avoid high-speed driving and sharp turns. A specialized VW workshop should diagnose and fix this, as it requires specific diagnostic equipment to properly reset the systems.
