Thanks for sharing your experience. This is helpful since I am dealing with the identical problem, total radio silence and dead sound output from all sources. My car speakers seem completely lifeless just like yours did. Good point about checking the basics first. I had the fuses checked and the wiring looks intact, so I think I am also facing the amplifier module failure you mentioned. Would you mind sharing how much the repair ended up costing? Also curious if you have experienced any sound quality issues since getting it fixed?

Had the repair done last week and can confirm the sound system is working perfectly now. The car speakers are all functioning with crystal clear audio output through every source, radio, USB audio, and auxiliary input. The sound quality is actually better than before, especially the bass response. The total repair cost was 280€ for replacing the defective bass speaker, which turned out to be the root cause rather than the amplifier module I initially suspected. The diagnostic testing revealed it was causing the complete system shutdown as a safety feature. Since the fix, I have had zero issues with the audio system. All sound sources work flawlessly, and the volume control responds normally. The repair shop did a thorough check of the entire system including the head unit connections and wiring while they had it apart, which gave good peace of mind. This repair cost was actually lower than expected, considering I thought I would need a full amplifier replacement like many VW owners end up requiring. Would definitely recommend getting it checked out since the fix was straightforward once they identified the true problem.

Thanks for the input. You will not believe what happened at the mechanic today. After dreading another expensive repair bill, it turned out much better than expected. The technician found that my radio silence issue was caused by a blown speaker that was shorting the entire sound system. Like others mentioned, they first checked all the basic elements, fuses, wiring, and Bluetooth issues. The diagnostic revealed a faulty front door speaker that was disrupting the whole audio setup. Total cost came to 310€ including labor and parts. The car speakers are now working perfectly across all inputs. The sound quality is actually better than before, with clearer audio output whether using radio or auxiliary input. Really glad I asked here first instead of assuming the worst. Saved me from unnecessary worry about a complete head unit replacement. The whole repair took about 2 hours and I am back to enjoying my daily commute with proper audio again.

Hello, could you please give me your technician's contact information? I have the same problem.

I recommend starting by checking the basics yourself or with a local mechanic. Begin with inspecting the audio system fuses and ensuring all connections to the head unit and speakers are secure. If these are intact, consider having a professional diagnose the issue, as it might be a faulty speaker or another component causing the problem. If you need further assistance, feel free to ask!

I encountered this exact issue with my 2013 VW Tiguan. The complete audio failure affected all sources, radio, USB audio, and auxiliary input. Initially thought it was a simple fuse problem, but diagnostic testing revealed a failed amplifier module in the head unit. The repair required removing the entire head unit. The main issue was a burnt circuit board inside the amplifier component, which is a common failure point in these VW audio systems. Once replaced, all audio functions returned to normal with no sound distortion or volume control issues. This is considered a significant repair as it involves dealing with the integrated electronics system. The amplifier module is not a separate component you can easily swap out, it requires specialized diagnostic equipment to properly reset and code to the vehicle. Important to know: Before pursuing major repairs, have them check the simple fixes first: Audio system fuses, Head unit connections, Speaker wiring integrity, Ground wire connections The complete silence across all audio sources typically points to an amplifier or head unit failure rather than individual speaker issues. This is a known weakness in several VW models from that generation.
