Thanks for the detailed response on the throttle body replacement. The symptoms you described match my issues perfectly. How much did the repair cost you in total? Has everything been running smoothly since the fix or did you notice any other air flow issues afterward? My VW is still under extended warranty but I want to get an idea of potential costs if they deny coverage.

After seeing the mechanic last month, the throttle valve issue was completely resolved. The total repair came to 265€ for fixing the accelerator pedal module electronics, which was causing the problems with engine response and power delivery. Since the repair, the engine has been running perfectly with smooth throttle response and proper air flow management. The fuel efficiency has actually improved slightly, and there are no more issues with engine idling or power delivery. The check engine light has stayed off, confirming the throttle sensor is working as intended. In your case, definitely try using the extended warranty first. The repair costs can vary depending on the exact issue, but electronic throttle body problems often need specialized diagnostic equipment to properly identify the fault. The accelerator pedal module repair I needed was actually less expensive than a complete throttle body replacement would have been. The investment was worth it for the peace of mind and restored performance. Make sure whoever does the work performs the necessary computer adaptations after the repair, as this is crucial for proper system function.

Just got back from the mechanic and wanted to share my experience. The throttle body was indeed the culprit, but thankfully my warranty covered the replacement cost. The repair took about 4 hours total, including the computer adaptation procedure. The new throttle body completely fixed the power issues. No more limp mode and the check engine light is finally off. The acceleration response is crisp again, and the engine runs so much smoother at idle. Would have cost around 780€ if not for the warranty coverage. The mechanic showed me the old throttle body and explained how the internal sensor had failed. He also checked the air flow system and cleaned the mass air flow sensor while everything was apart, which was a nice bonus. Really glad I got this sorted before the warranty expired. The car feels like new again and I can finally use full power without worrying about getting stranded.

Had a similar situation with a 2011 VW Passat 3.6L FSI. The throttle body was causing engine idling issues and severe response delay during acceleration. The check engine light came on after a few days of noticing reduced power. The throttle body required complete replacement as cleaning did not resolve the electronic malfunction. The throttle position sensor inside the unit was failing, causing the engine control module to put the car in limp mode as a safety measure. The repair involved disconnecting the battery, replacing the entire throttle body assembly, and performing a computer adaptation procedure. Without this final programming step, the new unit would not function properly. This is considered a serious repair since the throttle body controls air intake to the engine. When it fails, it can potentially leave you stranded or cause unsafe driving conditions due to unpredictable power delivery. After replacement, the engine response returned to normal, idle smoothed out, and the check engine light cleared. The computer adaptation took about 30 minutes to complete after installation. Based on your description, the symptoms match exactly what I experienced. Would recommend having it diagnosed with a proper scan tool to confirm the throttle body failure.
