Thanks for sharing your experience with the alternator failure. Really helpful since Im dealing with nearly identical symptoms in my Touareg. The car ECU is showing similar error codes and the electronics are acting up just like you described. Quick question, do you remember roughly what you paid for the full repair? Also, has everything been working properly since the fix or have you noticed any lingering electrical issues? I want to budget properly and make sure I address all potential problems while the car is in the shop. The circuit protection system seems quite sensitive in these VWs.

Really glad to help! Since having my Tiguan repaired, the high voltage issues have completely disappeared. The mechanic found that the car battery was heavily discharged, which was causing the overvoltage detection system to malfunction. The total repair came to 290€, which included a full electrical diagnostic and the battery replacement. It was worth every cent since all the electronics are now working perfectly. No more unusual error codes or power surge warnings. The voltage regulator readings are now stable, and I haven't experienced any circuit protection warnings in the months since the repair. Cold starts are strong and reliable, plus all the electrical systems are functioning as they should. Would definitely recommend getting it checked soon though, leaving these electrical issues unaddressed can lead to more expensive repairs down the line. The diagnostic equipment they used could pinpoint exactly where the system was failing.

Just took my Touareg to a new mechanic today after reading the suggestions here. Really glad I did, turns out the diagnosis was spot on. The alternator was causing overvoltage spikes that were messing with the car ECU and other electronics. The repair cost came to 850€ total including: New alternator with voltage regulator, Full electrical system diagnostic, Battery load test and reconditioning, Clearing all the error codes They showed me the test readings proving the old alternator was sending irregular power to the car electronics. After the replacement, all systems are working perfectly. No more warning lights, strong cold starts, and the electrical gremlins seem completely gone. The mechanic mentioned catching it early likely prevented damage to other expensive electronic components. Really appreciate the advice from this forum, saved me from jumping between shops trying different fixes.
