Weird Brake Pedal Feeling on Mini Roadster
Summary of the thread
A 2012 Mini Roadster owner experienced an unusual brake pedal sensation, described as intermittent resistance. Initial checks of the brake lines showed no issues. A suggestion was made to check the battery voltage, as low voltage can affect the ABS and cause erratic brake feedback. After addressing an undervoltage problem and replacing the disc brakes and pads, the brake pedal returned to normal functionality.

Undervoltage? Really? How does that even affect the brake pads? I thought those were just a simple mechanical system.

Yeah, it's bizarre, I know. In my case, the undervoltage was causing the ABS to act erratically, which translated to strange feedback in the brake pedal. I'd suggest getting it checked at a workshop, especially if you're not comfortable messing with the brake system yourself. Better safe than sorry!

It was indeed an undervoltage problem. The mechanic replaced the disc brakes and brake pads the brake rotors were still okay. Cost me 240€. The feedback from the brakes is now normal!

Whoa, that’s a strange one! I had a similar issue with my Mini Cooper. The brake pedal felt really weird sometimes. Did you check the battery voltage? It sounds silly, but low voltage can mess with the brake system's sensors.
