Wind AC control unit fault

My 2012 Renault Wind (gasoline engine, 108838 km) has developed an air conditioning problem. The error memory reports a fault, and the AC no longer cools. The system doesn't switch on at all, and the warning light in the speedometer is illuminated. My initial suspicion is the air conditioning control unit itself is defective, but I'm open to other possibilities.

Interesting. Given those symptoms, a defective control unit seems plausible. Have you checked the basics first, though? Like the refrigerant level or the compressor clutch relay?

Refrigerant level seems normal, no obvious leaks. I haven't specifically tested the compressor clutch relay though. Is there a straightforward way to diagnose that without specialized equipment?

Yeah, probably best to check that relay with a multimeter. If that's okay, it pretty much points back to the control unit or a deeper electrical issue. Honestly, considering the symptoms and assuming those basic checks are done, it's probably the control unit. I'd take it to a workshop at that point.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to a workshop, and after diagnostics, they confirmed it was indeed the air conditioning control unit. The repair cost was 980€. Appreciate the insights.
