Thanks for describing that fix in detail. My VW had exactly this problem last year and your solution sounds spot on. The faulty connection at the pump matched what my mechanic found. Great to know others have dealt with the same clog and leak issues in the washer system. Quick question, do you remember roughly what you paid for the repair? Also curious if youve had any other washer or headlight cleaning problems since getting it fixed? My repair was quite expensive due to all the labor involved in accessing everything.

The washer system repair on my T-Roc cost 165€ total, which covered fixing the faulty cable connection at the pump and replacing the worn relay. Since the repair, both the windshield washer and Xenon headlight cleaning system have worked flawlessly. The LED malfunction warning light that used to appear on the dash is completely gone now. Looking back, it was worth paying for a proper fix rather than trying temporary solutions. Having a properly functioning washer and headlight cleaning system really improves visibility and safety, especially during night driving. My system has been running perfectly for months now without any washer fluid leaks or electrical issues. The mechanic did a thorough job checking all connections while the bumper was off, which probably helped prevent any recurring problems.

After getting similar feedback from the forum, I finally took my car to a different mechanic who actually knew what they were doing. They found exactly what was described, corroded connections at the washer pump causing the system malfunction. The repair cost me 220€ including parts and labor. They had to remove the front bumper to properly access and fix everything. While in there, they also cleaned out a minor clog in one of the washer lines and replaced a leaking washer fluid hose. Its been 3 months since the repair and both the windshield and headlight cleaning systems are working perfectly. No more issues with the washer system at all. Really glad I switched mechanics and got it properly diagnosed and fixed. The extra cost was worth it for having everything working reliably again. Thanks everyone for helping point me in the right direction with this!

Had the same washer system malfunction on my 2018 T-Roc TSI. The fault turned out to be more complex than initially assumed. After inspection, the main issue was a corroded cable connection at the washer pump, causing a complete system failure. The washer pump itself was intact, but the electrical connections had deteriorated due to constant exposure to moisture and cleaning fluids that had leaked over time. The repair required removing the front bumper to access the pump assembly, cleaning all connector terminals, and replacing the damaged wiring harness section. While checking the system, we also found that the relay had wear marks, which could have contributed to the intermittent operation before complete failure. This was a significant repair job because of the labor-intensive access requirements and electrical system involvement. The system fault affected both front and headlight cleaning functions, similar to your symptoms. Would recommend having it properly diagnosed, as continuing to activate a non-functioning pump could potentially damage other components in the washer system circuit.
