Windstar battery draining speedometer errors

Hey, I'm having a weird issue with my 2003 Ford Windstar (gasoline engine). The battery keeps draining, and I'm getting error messages on the speedometer. The lights are also flickering sometimes, and the engine cranks weakly when I try to start it. I scanned it, and there's an error stored, but I don't have the exact code right now. Any ideas? It's only got 66509 km on the clock!

Sounds familiar! I had a similar problem with my Windstar. Weak battery, crazy lights, the whole shebang. Have you checked the battery terminals to make sure they're clean and tight? A loose connection can cause all sorts of electrical gremlins.

Yeah, I checked the terminals – they seem okay. But what 'electrical gremlins' are you talking about? Could it be something else draining the battery even when the car is off?

Well, when I say gremlins, I mean things that mess with the electrical system. In my case, it turned out to be a faulty battery sensor. It wasn't reading the battery's charge correctly, and the system wasn't charging it properly. I'd recommend taking it to a workshop to get it checked. They can properly diagnose the electrical system.

Thanks! A faulty battery sensor makes sense. I'll take it to a workshop and have them check it out. It was indeed the battery sensor! Cost me 315€ to get it fixed, but at least the problem is solved.
