WRV Automatic Transmission Shifting Problem
Summary of the thread
A 2021 Honda WRV diesel is experiencing poor automatic transmission shifting, with the indicator light intermittently turning on and off, and sometimes feeling stuck in emergency mode. The issue may be related to undervoltage, which can cause erratic behavior in modern vehicles. Checking the battery voltage and transmission fluid condition is suggested, as low voltage and worn-out transmission oil were identified as the causes. Replacing the transmission oil resolved the problem.

Thanks! Was the issue constant or intermittent like mine? Did you notice anything that made it happen, like hills or idling? Also, how did you check your battery voltage? Did you use a multimeter?

It started on and off, but quickly became constant. I didn't notice any specific triggers. I checked the battery with a multimeter and it was consistently low. That was definitely it; undervoltage causes weird issues in modern cars. I took it to a workshop. They replaced the oil and fixed the undervoltage.

Thanks! Your experience points me in the right direction. I checked the battery voltage. Following your advice, I went to a workshop and they said the automatic transmission oil was worn out because of undervoltage. After replacing the oil for 240€, it's working perfectly!

Hey! I drive a WRV too, although mine's older. I had similar symptoms last year: jerky shifting and the light was always on. How's your battery voltage? Have you checked the transmission fluid level and condition? A top-up or fluid change might help.
