X Klasse Diesel coolant loss problem

Thanks for the quick reply! I did a quick check of the radiator cap, seems okay, but I'll give it a closer look. No white smoke or sweet smell. The check engine light is on and the error memory says it might be a defective cable or plug connection. Could that be related to the coolant level?

Ah, an error code pointing to a connection issue... that could definitely be the culprit. I'd still rule out a small coolant leak somewhere. Those can be tricky to spot, especially if it's a slow drip that evaporates before you see it. But if you're getting electrical errors related to it, I'd say chasing that connection is a solid first step. If you're not comfortable digging into the wiring, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop.

Took your advice and checked all the connections first. Found a slightly loose plug on the coolant level sensor. Cleaned it, plugged it back in securely, and topped off the coolant. Error code cleared and hasn't come back! Seems like that was it. Also, the workshop confirmed it was just the plug connection. Cost me 95€ for the diagnostic and fix. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

Coolant issues on an X Klasse? I had something similar with my older Mercedes. Kept getting low coolant warnings. First thing I'd check is the radiator cap. If it's not sealing properly, you'll lose coolant over time, especially with a diesel. Have you noticed any white smoke from the exhaust or sweet smell around the engine bay?
