Good shout on the wiring harness; I hadn't considered that. Where exactly is the radar sensor located on the X Klasse? Is it easily accessible for a visual inspection and a quick clean, or am I going to need to remove the bumper? Also, is radar calibration something I can do myself, or is that definitely workshop territory?

The radar sensor's location is typically behind the front bumper, often near the grille area. Accessibility can vary, but generally, some disassembly is required. While a visual inspection is advisable, radar calibration necessitates specialized equipment to ensure precise alignment. Given the criticality of these automotive sensors for safety systems, professional intervention is warranted. Incorrect calibration can lead to system malfunctions and potential safety hazards. A diagnostic check at a workshop is the prudent course of action.

Thanks for the advice! Turns out it was a dirty sensor, but getting to it was a pain. Had to remove half the front bumper to properly clean it and check the wiring. A quick trip to the workshop for radar calibration, and I am all set. Total cost: 45€. Appreciate the insights about the wiring harness and the calibration, definitely saved me some time and potential headaches!

I own a Mercedes X Klasse and encountered a similar electronic issue affecting my automotive sensors. The failure of various systems points towards a potential disruption in the signal processing. A dirty sensor is plausible. However, consider the integrity of the wiring harness connecting the radar unit. Inspect for any signs of physical damage, corrosion, or loose connections. Furthermore, a diagnostic scan might reveal specific fault codes pertaining to signal strength or calibration, aiding in pinpointing the root cause. Keep in mind that driving assistance relies heavily on accurate sensor data.
