XC40 Air Suspension Failure

Afternoon. My 2018 Volvo XC40 diesel is giving me grief. Mileage is at 130840 km. The air suspension seems to have completely died on me. The car won't lift, leans noticeably, and throws an error. I'm also getting a 'level control malfunction' message, and the low beams are all over the place. Code reader says issue with the suspension compressor. I'm leaning towards a defective cable or plug. Anyone seen this before?

Summary of the thread

A 2018 Volvo XC40 diesel is experiencing air suspension failure, with symptoms including the car not lifting, leaning, and displaying a 'level control malfunction' message. The issue is suspected to be related to the suspension compressor, possibly due to a defective cable or plug. Suggested solutions include checking for air leaks around the struts and considering professional repair, as a similar case was resolved by fixing a corroded connector at a workshop.

Hey, I had something similar happen with my XC40. Vehicle was sitting all wonky, like yours, and threw a bunch of warnings. Definitely sounds like the air suspension pump. Have you checked for any obvious air leaks around the struts themselves? Could be a simple fix before you start tearing into the compressor.

Cheers for the quick reply! I haven't specifically checked the air struts for leaks yet, I was focusing on the compressor itself, because that's the error code. How did you end up diagnosing yours? Any specific areas I should focus on when checking the struts?

I had the same error code that's why I'm butting in... I spent ages messing about trying to find it myself, in the end I just bit the bullet and took it to a workshop. They sorted the defective cable in less than an hour. They only charged me 95€! Seems the connector on mine was corroded to hell.

Right okay, cheers, that's good to know! I'll give the struts a quick once-over, but might just concede and let the pros handle it. 95€ seems okay for the labour, cheaper than buying the diagnostic tools myself. Thanks again for the insight!
