XC40 Automatic Transmission Implausible Shifting

Having trouble with my 2020 Volvo XC40 gasoline. It's got 35572 km on the clock. Lately, the automatic transmission has been acting up. I'm seeing implausible shifting, the transmission indicator light is on, and it's not shifting smoothly. Sometimes it even goes into emergency mode. Any ideas?

Sounds familiar. I had similar transmission performance issues with my XC40, although it presented a bit differently. Is it possible you've got undervoltage issues? Have you checked the battery and alternator?

Undervoltage, huh? That's interesting. I wouldn't have thought of that. How would that affect the automatic gearbox? And what exactly did you experience with your transmission problems?

Yeah, apparently undervoltage can mess with the transmission's electronic controls. My auto gearbox was shifting erratically. It's worth getting it checked, though. Could be a simple fix, but best to get it looked at before it causes more damage.

Took the XC40 to the shop. Turns out it was indeed an undervoltage issue messing with the transmission. They sorted it out. Cost me 240€ for the diagnostics and fix. Thanks for the tip!
