XC40 Bypass Valve Overheating

My 2023 Volvo XC40 gasoline engine is overheating at 167716 km, and the error memory is flagging a bypass valve malfunction. Could this be linked to the vacuum system, or should I be looking at potential power loss and fuel efficiency issues? Engine stalling is also something I have noticed. Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

I've had similar issues with my XC40. Overheating can be a pain. Have you noticed any difference in performance lately? Perhaps a slight hesitation when accelerating?

Yes, I have observed a slight hesitation during acceleration. Is there any possibility that this could be a consequential error resulting from another error?

That's exactly what happened to me. In my case, the bypass valve error was a symptom, not the cause. Get it to a workshop ASAP. They should check for vacuum leaks or other underlying issues. It is very difficult to diagnose without proper equipment!

Understood. I took it to the workshop as you suggested and you were right, it was indeed a consequential error! Luckily, it was covered under warranty, so the eventual repair cost was 0€!
