XC40 P0011 code VANOS issue
Summary of the thread
A 2020 Volvo XC40 diesel exhibited a check engine light and increased fuel consumption, with a diagnostic code P0011 indicating a potential issue with the inlet VANOS. The problem was suspected to be related to the VANOS solenoid. A similar case involved a faulty VANOS solenoid, which was resolved by replacement and cleaning. Ultimately, the issue was identified as a faulty power supply to the inlet camshaft solenoid valve, which was repaired.

Low power is hard to quantify, but yes, it feels a little sluggish. Did you also get the VANOS code? Were you able to fix it, or did you just replace parts?

Yeah, the code was the same. I'm not a mechanic, so I took it straight to the shop. They said it was the VANOS solenoid. They replaced it and cleaned everything. It runs like new now.

Thanks for the info. It turned out to be the inlet camshaft solenoid valve. The power supply was faulty. Got it fixed for 250€.

I had a similar issue with my XC40, check engine light and all. Does it sometimes feel like it has low power? It could be related to a timing chain issue or oil sludge buildup affecting the VANOS system.
