XC40 steering errors
Summary of the thread
A 2019 Volvo XC40 owner experienced intermittent power steering failure and vibrations, suspecting a faulty steering angle sensor. Another individual suggested checking the electronic stability and traction control systems, as faulty sensor coding could be the cause. After visiting a workshop, it was confirmed that the issue was indeed due to faulty coding of the steering angle sensor, which was then repaired.

Thanks for the reply. How did you determine it was the coding of the sensor? What were your symptoms like?

Well, I wasn't sure at first. But I noticed it after a wheel alignment. The car felt 'off', and the stability control light was flickering sometimes. My symptoms weren't as severe as yours, though. Just a slight pull to one side and the occasional warning light. I'd take it to a workshop to check, especially with those vibrations. Could be dangerous.

Appreciate the advice. Dropped it off at the workshop, and you were spot on. Faulty coding of the steering angle sensor was indeed the issue. Repair cost me 195€. Seems fine now. Thanks again!

I had something similar on my XC40. Though, I have to say the symptoms you describe seem a bit extreme. Did you check the electronic stability and traction control systems? Faulty coding of the steering angle sensor could be the reason.
