The error code sounds pretty conclusive then. I ended up taking mine in, and they confirmed it was the switch. They told me that user error could potentially damage it, but in my case it was just a faulty component. Given the error and the symptoms, I'd advise getting it checked out by a professional. It's a safety issue, after all.
