XC60 driver seat heating failure

The seat heating on the driver's side of my 2013 Volvo XC60 with a gasoline engine has stopped working completely. The OBD reader shows an error related to the seat heater circuit. I suspect it might be the heating mat itself. Has anyone else experienced something similar with their XC60s?

I had a similar issue with my XC60 a while back. Same symptoms – no heat, error code. It's likely the heating mat in the seat cushion itself. They're known to be a bit fragile. Do you have leather seats?

Yes, mine has the leather seats. Was it a difficult fix? Did you manage to repair it yourself, or did you have to take it to a shop? I'm reasonably handy with tools, but I'm a bit wary of messing with the electrics in the seat.

I wouldn't advise tackling it yourself unless you're very confident with electrical work. Given the error code and the symptoms, it's almost certainly a faulty heating mat. I'd recommend taking it to a qualified technician. They can diagnose it properly and replace the mat. It’s a bit of a pain getting the seat apart and back together correctly, especially with the leather. Better safe than sorry.

Okay, thanks for the advice! I suspected it might be a job best left to the professionals. I booked it in at the workshop, and as you suggested, it was the heating mat. The repair cost me around 390€ including parts and labor. At least my bum will be warm again this winter!
