Thanks for the quick reply. When you say brake sensor, do you mean the ABS sensor, or is there a specific sensor for the electronic parking brake that I should be looking at?

Sorry, should have been more clear. I meant the sensor that communicates with the electronic brake itself. The mechanic called it something else, I think it was a brake control module issue? It's been a while. Either way, definitely get it checked out by a workshop. It sounds too similar to what happened to me.

Thanks, I appreciate the info. Turns out my initial assessment was correct; the electric motor in the brake calliper was indeed defective. Repair cost was 505€. Replaced and all is good now.

Hey there. I have an XC60 too, though I don't know the year offhand. I had something similar happen a while back. If I remember right, it turned out to be a brake sensor issue throwing everything off. Have you checked the brake sensors?
