Fuses, eh? I hadn't thought of that. Which fuse are we talking about exactly? I'm not the most mechanically minded, so if you could point me in the right direction, that would be amazing! Also, did your car cut out completely while driving, or was it more of a stuttering kind of thing?

I don't remember the exact fuse number off the top of my head, but it was related to the ignition system. Consult your owner's manual – it should have a diagram. In my case, the car was cutting out completely without any warning. If the fuses are fine, then you'll need to visit a workshop for more in depth inspection. Your issues sounds to be pointing at car electronics.

Thanks so much for the advice! Turns out you were spot on about the fuse! Replaced a dodgy fuse for the ignition and boom, she's running like a dream again. Cost me a whole 52€ for the part and fitting. You're a lifesaver!

I had similar issues with my XC60. The symptoms you describe sound familiar. Have you checked the fuses? A defective fuse can cause all sorts of weird electrical problems, especially related to the ignition system. It's an easy and cheap thing to check before diving into more complex diagnostics.
