XC60 low defrost heat

Experiencing low heating output in my 2020 Volvo XC60 hybrid, especially on defrost. Car's at 114703 km. Scan shows error related to the defrost air distribution flap. Suspect a faulty cable or plug to the flap motor, but not sure where to start. Anyone encountered something similar or have advice on troubleshooting air distribution in these climate control systems?

Sounds familiar! I had a similar problem with my old BMW 3 series. The heating was weak, and it turned out to be a dodgy connection somewhere in the air distribution system. Did you check the blower motor resistor? That can sometimes cause weird temperature regulation issues too.

Thanks for the tip! I haven't specifically checked the blower motor resistor yet. Where is it typically located in the XC60? And did your BMW throw any specific error codes related to air distribution flaps, or just general heating inefficiency?

On the BMW, it was near the blower motor itself, under the dash on the passenger side. No specific flap errors, just a general code for 'heating malfunction'. Honestly, after poking around a bit, I gave up and took it to a shop. They sorted it quickly. Might be worth getting it checked if you're not sure.

Took your advice and brought it to the workshop. It was indeed a defective connection to the defrost air distribution flap, just like the error code suggested. Repair cost was 95€ Thanks for the help!
