XC60 Radio Reception Issue

Hi, I'm having trouble with my 2018 Volvo XC60 hybrid. The radio reception is terrible, like listening to music underwater. I keep getting an error message in the infotainment system, and sometimes the whole audio system just quits. I saw there was an error stored when the car was last serviced, so I assume that's related. I'm wondering if anyone has experienced something similar before I take it to a shop?

That sounds incredibly frustrating! I have an XC60 too, and I had a similar issue a while back. The radio was just a mess of static, like trying to find a clear TV channel with rabbit ears. I was ready to pull my hair out! Did you check the antenna booster or, potentially, a bad antenna ground?

Thanks for the reply! I'm not really sure what an antenna booster is or where to even find the antenna ground. Could you tell me roughly where to look? I am not very technical...

Okay, so I'm not a mechanic either, but from what I remember, the antenna booster amplifies the signal and it might be located near the antenna itself, perhaps under the headliner or near the rear window. However, messing with vehicle electronics can be tricky. Honestly, based on your description, especially with the error message, it does sound exactly like the faulty antenna I had. I suggest you save yourself the headache and just get it checked by a professional before you mess something up. They will know where to look and what to do.

Thanks so much for the advice! I took it to the shop, and you were right. The antenna was defective! The repair cost me 255€. I really appreciate you sharing your experience; it saved me a lot of time and potential frustration.
