XC60 Sun Blind Failure

I'm so frustrated! I have a 2023 Volvo XC60 with a gasoline engine, and the sun blind is giving me fits. It's got 146711 km on it. Basically, the darn thing just stopped working. It won't retract or extend, it's just stuck! And to top it all off, I scanned it and there's an error code stored. I'm guessing it's probably the motor, but I’m pulling my hair out over here! Has anyone else had this happen? What did you do?

The symptoms you describe do strongly suggest an issue with the sun blind motor. Considering the mileage and the symptoms, a defective motor is certainly plausible. Does the error code provide any additional information regarding the motor itself, such as voltage irregularities or a complete failure?

Thanks for the quick reply! The error code doesn't give too much detail beyond 'sun blind motor malfunction'. I was hoping it might be a fuse or something simpler, but it doesn't seem that way. Do you think it's something I could tackle myself, or am I looking at a professional repair?

Given that the error code is rather generic and you've already checked the obvious things like fuses, it does appear to be pointing towards a motor failure, as you initially suspected. While a DIY repair might be attempted, accessing the sun blind motor often requires dismantling interior trim, which can be delicate and prone to damage if not done correctly. Considering that, and without more specific diagnostic information, a workshop visit might be the most prudent course of action to prevent further complications.

Okay, thanks for the advice, I appreciate it. I took it to the shop and, you were right, it was the motor. Cost me 330€ to get it sorted. What a pain! At least it's fixed now.
