XC60 Transmission Failure in Park

The engine does not crank at all. There is absolutely no attempt to start. The gear selector feels normal; I do not notice any unusual resistance or looseness. Could this still be related to the gear linkage, or is it more likely a deeper transmission problem?

Given that the engine won't crank and the selector feels normal, it does point more strongly toward the control unit being defective, preventing the start sequence due to the perceived 'park' position error. It's likely beyond a simple gear linkage adjustment. I recommend having it professionally diagnosed at a qualified workshop.

Thanks for the advice. Took it to a workshop, and the diagnosis confirmed the control unit was defective. Repair cost was about 1000€. Appreciate the assistance in understanding the potential cause.

Sounds like a control unit issue, given the symptoms and error codes. When you say it won't start, does it crank at all, or is it completely dead? Also, does the gear selector feel normal, or is there any unusual resistance or looseness?
