XC70 AC Failure

Hey, I've got a 2010 Volvo XC70 with a gasoline engine and something weird is happening. The AC just stopped working. It's only got 46667 km on it. Now the air conditioning system doesn't switch on at all, and obviously it's not cooling. I hooked it up to a code reader and there's an error stored, but I don't know what it means. Any ideas?

Sounds frustrating! I had a similar issue with my old BMW 3 series. The AC would just randomly cut out. Does it happen after driving for a while, or is it immediate? It might be worth checking the AC relay or even even the pressure switch in the HVAC system. Sometimes undervoltage can cause weird electrical issues too.

Thanks for the tip! It seems to happen randomly, no matter how long I've been driving. Where exactly is the AC relay located? And how do I check for undervoltage? I'm not super familiar with car electrics.

Okay, random is tricky. Honestly, finding the exact relay location can be a pain, it varies so much. And checking for undervoltage requires a multimeter and some knowledge of the car's wiring diagram. Given it's random and throwing an error, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. They'll have the right tools to diagnose it properly and avoid any electrical mishaps.

You're right, probably best to leave it to the pros. Took it to a local shop, and you nailed it - undervoltage was the culprit. They replaced something, maybe the AC relay, I'm not sure. Cost me 240€, but at least it's fixed. Thanks for the help!
